#45 Evaluation

This is an update on my previous post, 'Reflection on Project'. We were given four evaluation questions to answer in detail to help us understand improvements we have made during the projects, and how we feel we have achieved, and what we would do differently next time or stay the same when repeating tasks similar to this one. Below is my evaluation, which I have made into a power point with pictures to make it more creative.

#42 Final Film & Tutor Feedback

I have finally finished the last cut of my film. It had taken me several months to complete it, along with the other tasks. I feel that I have worked hard, which shows in my work and I am very pleased with what I have created. I plan to show my film to my friends so they can see my work and let me know that they think. You can watch my film below and also leave comments:

#44 Reflection on Project

Now it was time for me to reflect on the project. We looked at what we needed to get an A grade, and from this I could compare where we feel we are in terms of grades. Reflection also allowed us to see how genuine our products look when compared to a actual real media product. I feel that my film is very good in terms of story line, but feel that I should have used more sound effects, as opposed to just using diagetic sound and background music for my film. Using these sound effects would make noises emphasized and make it more conventional to the horror film genre.

I feel that my radio trailer works well and is similar to most horror film trailers. Although I am pleased with my poster, I feel that it could be better. I have never been overly confident with Photoshop skills, and feel that I have taken the easy option out creating a very basic poster, whereas most films tend to have extravagant posters as this is what helps sell the film. I feel that if my Photoshop skills were better, then I would be unhappy with my poster, but due to my confidence with Photoshop I feel that it is of average quality.

Reflecting has helped me to be more prepared for other projects that I will work on in the future.

#43 Social Networking Feedback

Feedback is very important to me as it helps me to understand how successful my film is. I put my film on Youtube, and gave a link to the video on Facebook and Twitter. The findings I get from this feedback I will write about in my evaluation. Social Networking feedback appears to be the most opinionated and critical, which has its benefits.

#41 Finished Trailer

I have now complete the radio trailer for my short film, The Red cloak. I found the trailer very easy to make due to previous experience using GarageBand and my knowledge I gained from researching into trailers. I used various sound effects, all of which were copyright free and from www.freesound.org. I used my own voice for the talking in the trailer, and used one of the different voice instruments to edit my voice, I also lowered the pitch so that my voice was deep, like the voice conventionally found in horror trailers. I am very pleased with my finished trailer, which can be listened to below.

#40 Using Garage Band Evidence

To create my Radio Trailer for my film, I used GarageBand, this is the same program that I used in order to create tester pieces of music for my short film. Due to my prior use of this program, I found it very easy to create my trailer, which helped me as I could perform tasks such as editing my voice and cutting sounds shorter. I used royalty free sound effects from a website called www.freesound.org to help create the trailer. Below is an image of the track for my trailer with all the different instruments, sounds and voices placed together, and a image of me working on my trailer.

#39 Radio Trailer Script

After looking at the conventions of other radio trailers, I had a clear idea of what is expected. Most of the trailers use a deep male voice, as this adds to the horror, and are conventionally around 30 seconds long. They also use tension building music, and reveal parts of the story but never the full story. I plan to follow all or most of these conventions in my trailer. To make sure that I knew what to follow, and what to say, I wrote a short script for the radio trailer. I plan to find a male with a deep voice to record my trailer. The script can be seen below.
